Can I use my home address for my Maryland LLC?

The Virtual Hailey Group

The short answer

Yes, you can use your home address as your Maryland LLC's principal office, but it becomes public record on the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT) database. Anyone can look it up. Many owners use a Maryland Resident Agent service to keep their home address off public filings.

What becomes public

When you file Articles of Organization with SDAT, your principal office address and your Resident Agent's physical Maryland address are both published in the state's searchable business database. If your principal office is your home, that home address is visible to the public.

How a Resident Agent helps

A Maryland Resident Agent provides a physical Maryland street address to receive official government correspondence and service of process. Using a Resident Agent keeps a separate, professional address on the public record instead of your residence. Our Resident Agent service is $50 per year.

What you still need

Even with a Resident Agent, Maryland may require a principal office address. Some owners use a registered business location or a separate mailing address. A P.O. Box cannot serve as a Resident Agent address. SDAT requires a physical street address staffed during business hours.
